An educational foundation designed to promote learning throughout the lifespan
and to encourage people to improve the quality of life in their community

The Guido A. and Elizabeth H. Binda Foundation is a private foundation established in November 1977 by Guido and Elizabeth Binda. Guido was an architect specializing in school design. For over forty years he invested his time and resources throughout southwest Michigan, improving education and the quality of life for many. Elizabeth, a former educator and world traveler, was an avid reader and devotee of the opera, classical music and the arts. Her passion to enhance learning for all children and youth is exemplified in the Foundation's accomplishments. Guido and Elizabeth lived in Battle Creek, and shared a love for swans (hence the Foundation logo) - they cared for at least one pair for many many years ...

Guido and Elizabeth chose to focus on creative programs in areas throughout southwest Michigan where Guido's architectural firm had designed schools. With a strong education policy, the foundation also supports arts and culture initiatives as well as health and human service programs. Most recently, the program area has expanded to include Environmental Education issues.

Both Guido and Elizabeth believed it was beholden of all citizens to support agencies which were beneficial in improving human social conditions. Since Guido's passing in 1998 and Elizabeth's in 2009, the Board of Trustees has been privileged to continue their legacy. Their vision and investment in the future lives on.
